Comprised of two internationally renowned virtuosi, violinist Judith Ingolfsson and pianist Vladimir Stoupel, the INGOLFSSON-STOUPEL DUO was founded in 2006, after several highly successful recital performances in distinguished venues in New York City, Germany and Italy.
The Ingolfsson-Stoupel Duo’s appearances regularly take the artists to the world’s most prestigious concert series and festivals - as soloists as well as a duo. Since the Duo’s founding, its numerous joint appearances have included the Festival "Voix Etouffées" in Paris, Brandenburgische Sommerkonzerte in Germany, "New Faces, New Music" Festival in Krakow, Poland, Associazione Culturale "Maestro Rodolfo Lipizer " Onlus in Gorizia, Italy and Konzerthaus Berlin. In the United States, the Duo has performed at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, Brooklyn’s Barge Music series, Music in Corrales, NM, University of Colorado at Boulder and Denver’s Englewood Cultural Arts Center.
Highlights of the Ingolfsson-Stoupel Duo's current season include the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington, San Antonio’s Tuesday Musical Club Artist Series and Connecticut’s South Windsor Cultural Arts Series. In Germany, the Duo is heard at the State University for Music & Performing Arts Stuttgart, Internationales Theater Frankfurt and Villa Esche in Chemnitz. Upcoming performances during summer 2010 include the Schleswig-Holstein-Musikfestival in Germany, Donnerstag Konzerte in Grindelwald, Switzerland and the Keshet Eilon Festival in Israel.
Based on the belief that the best sonata performances are musical conversations between two equal partners, the Ingolfsson-Stoupel Duo offers unique and dynamic duo programs that include both important duo repertoire and unaccompanied repertoire on each instrument. Ms. Ingolfsson and Mr. Stoupel are recognized soloists in their own rights, who are passionate about presenting the classic duo and unaccompanied repertoire alongside unusual, rarely performed or new works in the intimate setting of a recital.
Judith Ingolfsson and Vladimir Stoupel serve as Artistic Directors of the festival "Aigues-Vives en Musiques" in southern France, founded in 2009. Their first joint CD, featuring the music of Simon Laks, was released on the EDA Label in 2010, while their most recent recording - Stravinsky’s Divertimento and Shostakovich’s Violin Sonata - was issued in October, 2011 on Audite.
