The founding Artistic Director of Seraphic Fire, Miami's highly acclaimed and successful professional chamber choir, PATRICK DUPRÉ QUIGLEY has conducted ensembles throughout North America, Europe, China, and Israel.
2008-2009 witnessed the inaugural season of the Firebird Chamber Orchestra, established by Patrick Dupré Quigley with a $250,000 grant from The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation for the purpose of establishing a professional chamber orchestra in Miami. Following a season that included a performance with New York City’s renowned Dessoff Choirs, his current season is highlighted by a trio of performances of Händel’s Messiah with the San Antonio Symphony.
Patrick Dupré Quigley is the recipient of the 2004 Robert Shaw Fellowship, given annually by the National Endowment for the Arts and Chorus America to one conductor between the ages of 25 and 40 who demonstrates the potential for a significant professional career. At 26, Mr. Quigley was the youngest person to ever receive this award. In October 2006, he was one of 16 conductors from around the world invited to Stockholm, Sweden to compete in the tri-annual Eric Ericson Award.
Since Seraphic Fire’s debut in 2002, Patrick Dupré Quigley has built it into a nationally recognized ensemble, now considered one of the five major performing arts institutions in Miami. The international classical music magazine Gramophone has declared that Seraphic Fire “has quickly become one of the top attractions in the [South Florida] region. No group programmes more adventurously.” The South Florida Sun-Sentinel calls Seraphic Fire “the smartest, most creative and consistently excellent classical music ticket in South Florida.” Under his leadership, Seraphic Fire was the recipient of the 2006 ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming of New Music. Mr. Quigley has commissioned and premiered numerous works, including the Pulitzer Prize nominated Road from Hiroshima: A Requiem by Shawn Crouch and the acoustic version of Ingram Marshall’s Hymnodic Delays. Known for its high-quality and exciting performances of Baroque and New Music, Seraphic Fire is also the first classical ensemble since the Benedictine Monks of Silos to reach the top 10 on the Billboard Pop Charts, appearing with international pop-star Shakira’s on her platinum- selling album, “Oral Fixation 2.”
With Seraphic Fire, Patrick Dupré Quigley has released six CDs: Beginnings (2006), a compilation of a cappella works from its fourth season; a live-in-concert recording of Handel’s Messiah (2006); Bach’s Six Motets (2007), performed with one voice on a part; Amazing Grace: A Gospel and Bluegrass Journey (2008); Shalom/Pax (2008); Ikon: Music of Russian and Byzantium (2009). Released in the Spring of 2010 is Mr. Quigley’s most recent album, Monteverdi’s Vespro della Beate Vergine (1610), produced for the 400th Anniversary of the work’s publication.
Patrick Dupré Quigley received his M.Mus. in Conducting from Yale University, where he studied on a full scholarship. He earned a B.A. in Musicology from the University of Notre Dame, and is a graduate of the Indiana University Center on Philanthropy's Fundraising School.

"The finest performance of the year by Miami's stellar chamber choir [Seraphic Fire] took place in May. What looked on paper like a daunting Bach Motets program instead revealed the singers and Patrick Dupré Quigley at their finest, conveying the spirituality, lyric freshness and rhythmic ingenuity of Bach’s six Motets."
THE MIAMI HERALD
"SERAPHIC FIRE KICKS OFF SUMMER SERIES WITH ENJOYABLE GOSPEL PROGRAM
Whether Patrick Dupré Quigley is leading his remarkable chamber choir Seraphic Fire in renaissance polyphony, Baroque cantatas, contemporary minimalism or down-home indigenous song, he produces the most ravishing vocal sonorities, marked by scrupulous attention to dynamics and ensemble precision."
SOUTH FLORIDA CLASSICAL REVIEW
"SERAPHIC FIRE ENDS SEASON SEAMLESSLY
Seraphic Fire, the daring and stylish Miami-based chamber choir, ended its season last weekend with a spectacular concert that spanned five centuries of Spanish, Latin American and Caribbean music. The choir’s artistic director, Patrick Dupré Quigley, put together a program that seamlessly blended the ancient and modern, classical and folk. If more people like him ran our ensembles, classical music would draw bigger, younger audiences."
SOUTH FLORIDA SUN-SENTINEL
"Quigley is so well known as a choral director and engaging interlocuter that one can forget what a gifted and dynamic conductor he is in non-vocal repertoire."
SOUTH FLORIDA CLASSICAL REVIEW
"MIAMI'S SERAPHIC FIRE BURNS BRIGHTER WITH EACH OF BACH’S WORKS
Score one for Bach. A Sunday concert validated J.S. Bach as a composer of fervent, emotionally charged works. Singers sent heart-piercing beauty and burning ardor straight to the heart while also admirably finessing Bach’s incredible writing skills. With his usual audacity, founder and Artistic Director Patrick Dupré Quigley lumped together all six [Motets], sung back-to-back without intermission - one hour, 40 minutes that grew progressively more blissful."
THE PALM BEACH POST
"Patrick Dupré Quigley brings energy and soul to the typically staid world of chamber music."
MIAMI NEW TIMES
"Seraphic Fire has rapidly become South Florida's most exciting young professional chamber choir, under the exuberant direction of Patrick Dupré Quigley."
CORAL GABLES GAZETTE
"Quigley was a good tour guide for this roughly 1,100 year journey. He conducts this kind of rep regularly with his Miami ensemble, Seraphic Fire, and led here with an easy, open beat that never let excitement overcome control. Quigley kept the music moving whatever its type or tempo, and each piece in a section effectively flowed right into the next. His oral program notes were enthusiastic and accurate. The whole 60 minutes was unalloyed pleasure."
SANTE FE NEW MEXICAN
"It takes more than inspiration to found a choir, then prove to be a conductor of style plus sensitivity throughout its seven seasons. Add to that, Quigley dreams up programs that are not only overarching statements but also musically satisfying experiences. Seraphic Fire is, hands-down, the early mover-and-shaker of the ‘08-09 season."
